We see and edit many photos everyday for our announcements and invitations. Some are great photos and need very little editing and others show common mistakes that are easy to avoid if you remember three simple things…
- 1. Keep the clothing and background neutral. Avoid busy patterns, dark clothing or blankets and clutter in the background. Be sure that your child is in focus and not over whelmed by the other elements in the shot.
- 2.
Check your lighting. Poor lighting or too much flash can ruin an otherwise great photo. When the photo is taken with very low light the details of the image are lost in the shadows. Too much light from a flash being too close or direct light from a window will over expose your subject and take away the detail. Artificial lighting can affect the true color of the photo subject. Florescent lights can cause a green or blue hue where incandescent light may cause yellowing. - 3. Low resolution cameras or poor scans. Although you can take photos with your cell phone, and the resolutions are getting better, photos or still, video camera shots are usually too low a resolution to print well. Scans of wallet size photos, Polaroid shots or inkjet printed images are also not a good idea.
We understand that it is not always easy to get that perfect shot. We recommend that you submit several photos in order of preference. We will crop, edit and create your special card and email it to you for approval. If you need to send another photo, feel free to do so. We want your announcement or invitation to be perfect and we will work with you until it is exactly the way you hoped.
